Carnival will be happening in June and we will need a whole lot of volunteers. Mandi van der Heever will be communicating with parents to set up a steering committee and any ideas welcome.

Carla Sagat asked whether Mrs. Kyprou could find out why our school was so late in sending out the acceptance letters.
What is the turn-around time for an application having been received?
Tracy not sure, will find out.

Mrs. Kyprou will take it up with Tracy Edwards. May is when all the testing is done and then the acceptance is done after that.
An internal policy - still under investigation
Immediate letter acknowledging receipt of application.
Testing in May of year prior to year applied for , dependent on waiting list position. June/July acceptance letter and receipt of deposit.

Mrs. Adao asked when decisions are made regarding school outings – do class moms make decisions?

Mrs. Kyprou indicated that all outings are decided by the school and not the class moms or the parents. Parents are on occasion asked to accompany children, especially in lower Grades where we need ‘more hands on deck.

A request was made that the possibility of including some Indian cultural activities / language at school
Mrs. Adao asked if possible to teach Portuguese in school hours? |

Mrs. Smythe made a suggestion that we collect socks with the Bread Buddies, as she has noticed many of the children have shoes but no socks

Discussion around the outreach programs:
- Grade 1 – Door of Hope (Glenvista).
- Grade 2 – Christway – Day Care centre, Creche
- Grade 3 – Father Lazlo’s Dinaledi House – Street children
- Grade 4 – Father Lazlo, Animal Anti-Cruelty and Copessa
- Grade 5 – St. Mary’s Children’s home
- Grade 6 – Nazareth House
- Grade 7 – Rosettenville Primary

Carol Kyprou went through all the Outreach programs. Any moms that are interested should please contact the teachers – they are always very grateful for any help

Feedback on Open Day. Tracy asked for comments from all.
Will definitely include the MFG next year to help promote the school. It was just a little late to include the parents this year
Everyone was very impressed by the visibility
It was very full - many people attended
Jill and Ana suggested Info slips - will give details to Tracy to discuss possibility of using them to send out emails.

Feedback on Scrolls for last year – Mrs. Luis asked for information which hasn’t been provided.

Portfolios that were appointed last year to continue
A revised list of portfolios will be sent out with the minutes.
Candy – suggestion that we put up a suggestion box and allow parents to put ideas and suggestions into the box. No anonymous suggestions will be allowed.
